Help Wanted - Any Japaneese language useful!!!

I am off to Japan on Friday - I have a presentation to give at a conference. Its in Yokohama and I have been reliably informed that aparantly they don't speak english in the area (only in tokyo city centre). As you well know that can't be true and thus I do not believe my reliable source [I mean, come on, they should be able to speak english anywhere in the world], but just in case the former were to be true, any form of help with the lingo will be very well appreciated.
As in the majority of cases where I've been, when the locals find that you are trying to learn their language by speaking a few of their words, they tend to then reveal that they do actually understand some english.
You may ask, how have I been preparing for my trip? - well, thus far, I have taken some pictures of the taxi rank, a hotel, the toilet and the building I will be going to.

Any more ideas on other pictures I should have will be very much needed. I look forward to your coments. Many Thanks people.

Wow.

I know Konichiwa means "hello?" Got that from "A Different WOrld." Whitley always called DwyaneWayne's new girl that. LOL

Perhaps you can buy an English to Japanese Pocket Dictionary to carry along with you. Have fun!

I am quite confused here,

You are going for a presentation without research.

What is the aim of the presentation?

If it is official, are u the only one going?

If you are presenting to a Japanese company; they would surely have an interpreter.

Anyway, I believe it is not a biggie! Your write-ups show that you are a beautiful presenter but if an interpreter is needed, you will need to slow down and I doubt if it would be as impactful as you want it to be.

@Dipo - I am a research scientist - I attend and present at conferences (pls read first ever entry on blog). The majority of people at the conference will speak english - I speak about the locals - How to get around. When I get there how to get proper transport and arrive at destination. I have decided to mosaic advice; to buy a dictionary cause I am in serious trouble -
@Londonbuki - The food pic is a great idea. Right on that.
@mosaic - you idea is the best - will defo do that.
@Temmy - thank you so much - I just pray I don't get lost.

@Dipo - I have to read my write up again and can see where the confusion might arrive. LOL - But seriously imagine if I had to present to the locals - I would have told them Im not going. This one is already stressful as it is - it is my fault - I didn't prepare myself in time with regards to learning a few of the local languages. LORD HELP ME. I have no fear - but I pray that I don't ever get lost - that one would casue me to collapse on the floor.

@ TLOASCM

Thats an interesting career you have there!

WIsh you the best on your stay in Japan. I will definitely read all your articles from the beginning so I can have a feel of your journey so far but right now there is a chunk load of work I have to wrap-up.

Ciao

Wow, I have actually read all your articles at a stretch!

I am truly impressed with your love for God and the way you chronicle your feelings;

Reaching a pinnacle and not yet satisfied, getting stood up in the airport, someone considers you blessed while you consider yourself struggling, jogging with pains, tripping at the airport, presuming an identity that wasnt the true identity, haunted by your past friend who is now married and finally facing a language barrier you did not plan for.

I am blessed just reading your write-up! I have surely bookmarked you and will make sure I bother you on updating your chronicles because they are truly a blessing!

Have a wonderful time in Japan; I am sure you will learn a lot, please let us have a run down of your visit....
